Today is a day of mixed emotions for all of us at the Conservation Council for Hawai‘i.
We appreciate the diligence and perseverance of the Department of the Attorney General in bringing this long, two-and-a-half year investigation to a close. With the AG’s indictment, we are relieved that justice will be served. However, we are deeply saddened that a former colleague betrayed our trust and robbed CCH of funds that could have been used to help further our conservation efforts.
As the Conservation Council for Hawai‘i, the state’s oldest environmental advocacy organization, enters its 75th year of service, we believe we are stronger, wiser, and more resilient than ever. We begin a new chapter in our long legacy of environmental stewardship, with safeguards in place to further increase accountability and transparency to avoid incidents like this from recurring and to provide assurance to our generous members that their contributions are making a positive impact in our islands.
